Dehradun, Dec.4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, laid the foundation stones for a number of development projects costing approximately Rs 18,000 crore in poll-bound Uttarakhand. He also looked at the project models, including the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, which will cost roughly Rs 8,300 crore to construct.
“The infrastructure projects inaugurated and founded here today are part of this ”mahayagya”. We are doing things at double-triple speed to make up for the lost time,” PM Modi said addressing a rally at the Parade Ground here.
“These developments would help create this Uttarakhand’s decade. The Centre has approved more than Rs 1 lakh crore for Uttarakhand’s development in the last five years,” he added.
He said that previous governments had done nothing to enhance Uttarakhand, whereas the BJP-led government had spent Rs.12,000 crore on the state’s development during the last seven and a half years.
“Today, India is moving forward with the goal of investing more than Rs 100 lakh crore in new infrastructure. I am very glad that the foundation stone of this project has been laid,” PM Modi remarked of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway or economic corridor. The road will cut the distance between the two cities in half, from 248 to 180 kilometres.
