New Delhi, Jan 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the tenth installment of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday, January 1 through video conferencing.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, this is in accordance with the government’s ongoing commitment and determination to empower small-scale farmers. This will facilitate the transfer of more than Rs 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore eligible farmer families.
The PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible beneficiary farming families with a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year, payable in three equal four-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The funds are deposited immediately to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
According to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, effective from 1st December 2018, the Central Government has so far sent more than Rs 1.61 lakh crore to more than 11.5 beneficiary farmer families in the accounts of farmer families.
During the occasion, the Prime Minister also distributed a Rs 14 crore equity award to 351 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), benefiting over 1.24 lakh farmers.
In the current financial year 2021-22, an amount of more than Rs 65,800 crore has been transferred to the beneficiary farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi PM Kisan Yojana, said the Union Agriculture Minister.
