Ranchi, July 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the newly built airport in Deoghar district will boost trade, tourism and industry in Jharkhand, Bihar and west Bengal.

Modi said this while inaugurating the Deoghar airport which is Jharkhand’s second airport after Ranchi constructed worth Rs. 441 crores. Modi said that Jharkhand would get two other airports namely in Dumka and Bokaro under Udan which is a regional connectivity scheme.

“The airport and AIIMS were the two dreams that have been fulfilled. It will strengthen health and tourism besides trade commerce and industry. Despite the Covid 19 pandemic the project was completed on the war footing,” the PM said.

In his 17 minutes address Modi said that he always wanted the flight service to become cheaper and easily accessible so that common people avail the facility. He said that from Deoghar airport annually five lakh passengers will fly. The airport spreads over 653.75 acres of land. PM Modi laid the foundation stone on May 25, 2018.

Modi said that under the Udan scheme so far one crore people have travelled. Under the scheme funds were sanctioned for construction of 70 airports, aerodromes and heliports.

The PM who laid the foundation stone of different projects worth Rs 16000 for Jharkhand said that Jharkhand has always been his priority for development. He talked about how Jharkhand has benefited from the aspirational districts scheme.
