Ranchi: The PMLA court has reserved its order on a petition filed by Abhishek Jha, husband of IAS officer Pooja Singhal, seeking permission to travel abroad in connection with the MNREGA scam-linked money laundering case.
Abhishek Jha Seeks Singapore Trip for Daughter’s Treatment
Abhishek Jha has approached the court seeking permission to travel to Singapore for his daughter’s medical treatment. The court had recently granted Pooja Singhal permission to travel to Singapore, and Jha has now made a similar plea. After completing the hearing, the court has reserved its order in the matter.
Background of the MNREGA Scam Case
During the ED’s investigation into the MNREGA scam, raids were conducted at the premises of Pooja Singhal, Abhishek Jha, and CA Suman Kumar Singh. Cash amounting to Rs 19.31 crore was recovered from Suman Kumar Singh’s location. The ED arrested Pooja Singhal on May 11, 2022. After spending 28 months in jail, she was granted bail. Abhishek Jha was also summoned and questioned for several days in connection with the case and is a chargesheeted accused.
