Daltonganj, Oct 30: Operator of customer service point of the SBI and scores of villagers nabbed three criminals who tried hard to decamp with one lakh seventy thousand (1.70 lakh) rupees in cash in the village Baraon under Chainpur police station.
The officer-in-charge Uday Kr. Gupta said that the three criminals have been identified as Pawan Chowdhury, Bipin and Krishna. They reached the customer service point of SBI, run by Sakender Vishwakarma at village Baraon, at around 4 in the evening on Friday and grabbed the cash from the counter. They began to run away on a bike when Vishwakarma started raising a great hue and cry that alerted the villagers. They started chasing the three crooks who had by then abandoned their bike at a place and were scurrying for their life and cash on their legs.
The crooks were eventually apprehended and thrashed by the crowd. The villagers then alerted the local police, who arrived and took possession of the three.
Pawan comes from Garhwa district while the other two Bipin and Krishna hail from Palamu district. Two ‘desi kattas’ were also recovered from them. However, the police did not find any cartridges. The criminals might have thrown the cartridges during their fleeing, opined the police officer.
The trio was running with 1.70 lakh of rupees which they had looted but on their frisking, 1.9 lakh of rupees was found missing and only 61,000 of rupees were recovered.
According to sources, the recovered cash will be released to the victim only under the order of court which is a time taking process.
It is being said that it is possible that the mob of villagers which was chasing these three for three kilometers of run might have laid hands on the cash. Another possibility is that the three crooks could have also thrown the cash across the road’s side bushes to be caught without cash, which could help them in the court of law for obtaining bail.
