Ranchi, Oct 12: Police in the Jharkhand capital arrested five including a woman model involved in drug peddling and recovered 36 gram brown sugar, an electronic machine and four mobile phones other than Rs 2.90 lakh earned by peddling drugs.
The arrest took place from Ganga Nagar Road No.1 near Karam Chowk under Sukhdeonagar police station area. The place is located besides Harmu rivulet in between Kishoreganj and Harmu Housing Colony.
The name of model is Jyoti Sharma while four other than her include her mother Moni Devi, Arjun Sharma, Balram Sharma and Rahul Sharma.
S.P. (City) Anshuman Kumar informed about the breakthrough organising a press conference saying a six-member team comprising Dy SP (Kotwali) Prakash Soy, officer-in-charge of Sukhdeonagar police station Mamta Kumari, ASI Dharmadev Bhagat, ASI Rajeev Ranjan, ASI Mrityunjay Kumar and armed guards of Sukhdeonagar police station made the breakthrough.
“On October 11, SSP got secret information that Ganganagar resident Jyoti Sharma and her family members are involved in the business of brown sugar. Getting information he constituted a leader under the leadership of Dy SP (Kotwali) Prakash Soy. The team raided the house of Sharma and recovered brown sugar wrapped in silver flap from the right pocket of her paint. From her mother Moni Devi five pouches of brown sugar were recovered. Similarly, brown sugar was recovered from the possession of Arjun Sharma and Balram Sharma. When asked how they procured the same, they named Rahul Sharma, a resident of Ashok Nagar. When raided the house of Rahul Sharma an amount of Rs 2.90 lakh cash which was earned by selling drugs was recovered from his possession,” S.P (City) Kumar said.
S.P (City) Kumar said: “When all the five were interrogated they informed that 27 gram brown sugar was kept in a rented house at Raj Laxmi Nagar in Pundag. They informed me that they bring brown sugar from Sasaram by bus for business.”
