Police arrest two IRB jawans for raping tribal widow in Lohardaga

Ranchi, Oct 7: Jharkhand police arrested two India Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawan who allegedly raped a tribal widow on Thursday in a crop field in Serengdag in Lohardaga district, about 70 km from Ranchi.

The arrested include Krishnakant Tiwari and Ajay Bada. Both were deputed at the Serengdag picket. They allegedly raped the woman in a drunken state, crossing all limits of cruelty.

The action was taken on the direction of the state police director-general following the registration of an FIR at Mahila Thana of the district in this connection.

“They not only raped her but crossed all limits of cruelty. They first raped the woman in turns and then also had unnatural sex. They also attacked the private part of the lady with a sharp-edged weapon. The woman is undergoing treatment at RIMS Ranchi and is critical,” a police official said, informing about the arrest.
