Jamshedpur, May 24: A 55-year-old man who was a police chokidaar was killed in a road mishap on the NH-33 under the Baharagora thana area in the Ghatiya sub-division about 90 km away from here on Wednesday morning.
Identified as Manik Patar, the victim was a resident of Kuarda village in Baharagora and fell victim to the fatal mishap while he was returning home on foot.
The mishap took place at Matihana Chowk on the Chakulia-Baharagora stretch of the NH-33 after an unknown vehicle hit the man.
The police sources said the victim was negotiating the Matihana Chowk when a speeding vehicle hit him, causing him to get fatally injured.
“The victim’s head was ruptured on being hit by the vehicle, causing him to die instantly. There were tyre marks of the unknown killer vehicle on the spot, ” said a police officer while talking to lagatar24.com.
The police officer said they are trying to detect the killer vehicle from the CCTV footage installed along the NH-33.
The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem having registered a case against the driver.
