Hazaribag, Nov 21: A team of police assembled by SP Rakesh Ranjan nabbed two Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) members with a loaded country-made pistol and a few mobile phones. The action was taken after information about extremists terrorising transporters and businessmen in the Piparwar coal belt Chatra district came to the fore.
The police team was led by Tandwa subdivisional police officer Shambhu Kumar Singh who said that after tip-off came to the SP, he was instructed to go to Benti village on Sunday night where extremists were present. They were planning to commit some crime in the area when the police team reached there and foiled their plan.
The arrested were identified as Vicky Ganjhu and Sunil Ganjhu alias Chandu Ganjhu. Both are residents of Khalari in Ranchi.
According to Singh, they have recovered a loaded single-shot country-made pistol, 5 live bullets and 2 mobile phones from them. Both arrested were wanted in cases related to violence and Arms Act registered in Khalari and Piparwar police stations.
The officials said interrogation of the duo is going on to know more about the outfit and its members in this area. Notably, in the last three months, seven extremists have been nabbed in this area.
