Daltonganj, July 29: Police vigil has been further beefed up in areas falling under the Chainpur police station in Palamu following sighting of an interpolated look alike ‘Tiranga’ with fabric print of a line in Arabic of a particular faith along with a sword.
The incident was alleged to have occurred at Semra under the Chainpur police station last evening for a brief moment during the Muharram procession.
The local police immediately swung into action but by then the highly objectionable flag disappeared from the scene.
The episode could have gone unnoticed had someone not made a clip of it and made it viral.
Assistant Superintendent of Police and SDPO Rishabha Garg said, “Law will take its own course against those who have committed the offence. There will be stringent action against the offender or the offenders. Palamu police is very strict. There will be no leniency.”
A well-known civil society activist, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, giving his reactions said, “We condemn such things. It is unacceptable. It is most unwanted. There is no justification for such aberration. It is a great wrong done. The law of the land is here to deal with it. Occasion like Muharram has its own sanctity. Such things put Muharram in poor light.”
