Ranchi, Jan.1: Poor visibility at Birsa Munda Airport compelled pilots to divert two Ranchi-bound flights to Kolkata. The flights included New Delhi-Ranchi (Vistara) and Bangalore-Ranchi (Go Airways).
The airport Director, Vinod Sharma, confirmed the diversion saying the visibility required to be 1300m for safe landing it was just 300m in the morning.
“After the visibility became proper around 9.30am both the flights landed at Birsa Munda Airport and passengers reached their destination,” Sharma said.
At Kolkata, Sharma said, refuelling took place in both the flights as a normal existing practice in case of diversion.
Asked about other flights, Sharma said other flight services are normal and on schedule.
