New Delhi, Oct 27: The portals of Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand closed for winters on Thursday. As the Char Dham yatra nears its conclusion, the portals of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in Uttarakhand also have been shut for the winter on the festival of Bhai Dooj. On November 19, the Badrinath shrine’s doors will close, bringing the yatra to an end for the season.
According to data issued at 8:30 am on Tuesday, 6,24,371 pilgrims have already visited the Gangotri shrine, according to Devendra Patwal, an officer with the Uttarkashi District Disaster Management Authority.
Devotees will be able to worship Goddess Ganga at Mukhba village during her winter stay when the Gangotri shrine is closed for six months.
According to sources within the Gangotri Temple Committee, after giving prayers to the goddess amidst Vedic chants, the temple’s doors were shut at 12:01 pm.
The Yamunotri goddess’ idol will go for the village of Kharsali to make its winter residence after the Yamunotri portals are closed. The deity’s palanquin will depart from Kedarnath and spend six months in the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath, where it spends the winter.
The Utsav Murti of Lord Badrinath will be moved to the Narsimha Temple at Joshimath in the Chamoli district where devotees can offer prayers for six months after the portal of the Badrinath shrine closes on November 19 at 3.35 p.m., according to Ajendar Ajay, president of the Badrinath Kedarnath temple committee.
