Patna, Jan 14: The state appointed Prashant Kumar Shahi, a senior advocate of the Patna High Court and a former minister in the Bihar administration, as the new advocate general on Friday.
The appointment was announced in a statement by the state law department. Lalit Kishore has been replaced by Shahi, a former state minister of education.
Shahi had previously worked for the Nitish Kumar administration from 2005 to 2010 in the same position. He will assume control on Monday.
He retired from politics a few years ago to restart his legal career in the Patna High Court.

Shahi has received congratulations for his appointment from Ramakant Sharma, the head of the Bihar State Bar Council, Prashant Pratap, and a number of Patna High Court attorneys.
