Primary schools in Delhi to close from Nov 5 amid air pollution

New Delhi, Nov 4: All primary schools in the nation’s capital will be closed beginning on Saturday, November 5 due to capital’s increasing air pollution levels according to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister reached the decision during a press conference on Friday.

“We’re taking all steps to control the pollution situation. In lieu of that, we’re shutting down all primary schools in Delhi from tomorrow. Also shutting down outdoor activities for all classes above class 5,” said Arvind Kejriwal, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Until the air quality improves, all schools in the national capital region will be closed. All outdoor activities for all classes above Class 5 will also be suspended, along with the schools.

The Delhi Chief Minister stated during the conference that they are making every effort to tackle the pollution crisis. He also stressed the importance of considering whether to use the odd-even strategy for automobiles. The schools’ reopening date has not yet been determined, though.

As air pollution continues to rise, Noida schools have made the decision to begin offering online courses throughout the city. In response to the escalating levels of air pollution, all schools in the Gautam Budh Nagar district will be required to offer online classes to pupils in grades 1 through 8 until November 8th.
