Daltonganj, March 19: The Palamu Tiger Reserve is up for compensation for cattle loss by the Male tiger sighted in Palamu tiger reserve.

According to Kumar Ashutosh, the chief conservator of forests and field director of the Palamu Tiger Reserve, the first kill of this tiger was an ox, and our officials are up for its compensation.

He said “We want to tell our cattle owners not to feel sad if their cattle is preyed by the tiger. We will immediately pay compensation as notified by the government here in Jharkhand.”

The compensation will be given to small animals such as calves and goats, as well as large animals such as cows and ox. Ashish stated that the compensation should be Rs. 5,000 for a calf, Rs.3,000 rupee for a goat, and Rs.15,000 rupee for a cow and ox.

He has also appealed to the villagers to cooperate with the PTR in keeping this tiger healthy, and not to complain about cattle losses that were preyed by the tiger, as the losses will be compensated.

Meanwhile, TPF (tiger protection force) members and 30 trackers have been called in to keep an eye on a male tiger in the tiger reserve Palamu since Friday. This tiger has come from the neighbouring state Chhattisgarh. The tiger is in a healthy condition.

Kumar Ashutosh, the chief conservator of forests and field director of the Palamu Tiger Reserve, stated that 30 men and 40 camera traps have been installed for the safety and monitoring of the tiger.

“This Sunday I saw the tiger up close. It was having a good time. I saw it from a distance of twenty meters. It was a thrilling experience,” said Ashutosh.

“My deputy director North division of the tiger reserve Palamu P Jena was with me. It was he who had first of all direct sighted the tiger this last Friday,” he added.
