Pune: A 29-year-old woman was rescued after she fell into a 100-foot deep gorge while attempting to take a selfie at Borne Ghat in Maharashtra’s Satara district, police reported.
The woman, who had come from Pune with a group of friends, slipped and fell near the Thoseghar waterfalls. The dramatic incident was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media.
Quick action by a Home Guard and fellow mountaineers ensured the woman’s safe rescue from the gorge. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
This incident comes shortly after a tragic event at Kumbhe waterfall near Maharashtra’s Raigad, where a 26-year-old Instagram influencer, Aanvi Kamdar, died after falling into a gorge while shooting a video. Aanvi was on an outing with seven friends when the accident occurred on July 16.
Local authorities have since urged tourists to prioritize safety and avoid risky behaviors that could endanger lives while exploring scenic locations. They emphasized the importance of enjoying tourism responsibly to prevent such incidents.
