Gurdaspur, Oct 1: A Pitbull attacked 12 persons in five different villages in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, leaving them with significant injuries. From Tango Shah hamlet to Chuhan village, the dog running about 15 miles while biting people. A retired armyman later shot the dog in self-defense at the last stop.
The dog initially bit two workers close to Tango Shah village. They were both able to save their own lives by throwing a chain around its neck. The dog, however, was able to get away and enter the village. It then attacked Dilip Kumar (60) when he was sitting outside his home.
After this, the Pitbull bit the leg of a person named Baldev Raj. From here he ran towards Ghatora Road and also attacked many animals. Ramnath, a Nepali watchman of a kiln was also attacked by the dog. It then went to Chhani village from here and bitten a man named Mangal Singh. At around 5 in the morning, he reached another village, where he attacked people walking on the road.
Pitbull ran from here towards Chauhan village and attacked Captain Shakti Singh, a retired army man. Singh was seriously injured, but he grabbed both the ears of the dog and put a rod in his mouth. Some more people of the village came forward to rescue Singh and killed the dog. Those injured in the Pitbull attack have been admitted to the Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
