In the meantime, the NIA has sought custody of Abdul Sattar, the general secretary of the PFI, who was apprehended on Wednesday by police in Kollam after he was found absconding. On Monday, the NIA’s request for 7 days of incarceration will be taken into consideration.
In two waves, the NIA and other investigation agencies conducted raids at various places around the country as part of a broad campaign against the extreme group.
93 locations in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar, and Manipur were searched by law enforcement officials as part of the initial round of the inquiry.
In connection with five cases registered by the NIA about the extremist group’s alleged participation in activists involved in terrorism, searches were carried out at the homes and offices of the senior PFI leaders and members. PFI has been charged with organizing training camps for armed training, funding terrorism and terrorist acts, and radicalizing individuals to join outlawed organizations.
After conducting raids in eight different states and capturing many PFI members, the NIA continued its operation against the extremist group.
