Raid Conducted on Secret Information
According to officials, police received a tip-off that illegal arms trading was taking place at a vegetable shop located at College Chowk in Khajanchi Haat police station area of Purnia. Acting swiftly, police raided the premises and recovered a large quantity of cartridges along with an AK-47 bridge block.
Arms Smuggling Behind the Veil of Vegetable Selling
Superintendent of Police Sweety Sahrawat stated that the arrested accused, Kunal Kumar, was operating his arms smuggling business while posing as a vegetable vendor. “He is a notorious smuggler with a criminal background already under suspicion,” the SP said. Police are now working to trace the entire network linked to this racket.
Conspiracy Hatched Inside Jail
Investigations have revealed that Kunal met Amit alias Roshan while they were both lodged in Beur Jail. Their partnership deepened in prison, and after their release, they jointly established a network for arms supply. Amit handled the orders while Kunal arranged the weapons.
Amit Still Absconding, Interstate Network Under Probe
While Kunal has been arrested, his associate Amit remains absconding. Police have launched raids at multiple locations and are confident of arresting him soon. Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized weapons were brought from another state. Kunal has been taken into remand for interrogation to ascertain the origin of the arms consignment and identify the intended recipients.
