Jamshedpur, Dec 17: The A-1 category Tatanagar railway station would soon get more passenger amenities including two escalators.

Railway officials met at Tatanagar station this morning to discuss a way to improve passenger amenities.

Tatanagar station director H.K. Balmuchu, who was present at the meeting, said it was decided to set up two more escalators.

Currently, the A-1 category railway station has two escalators on platforms 1 and 3.

The parking arrangement outside the railway station was also elaborately discussed at the meeting.

A section of officials from the commercial wing of railways pointed out that parking outside Tatanagar station needed to be streamlined and sufficient space needed to be provided for four-wheelers.

A decision was also taken for providing a shed in the parking area.

Currently, the parking slot can accommodate around 300 bikes and 100 cars.

A representative of the Chhotanagpur Passenger Association stressed the need for another elevator at the A1-category railway station.

There is one elevator at the station on platform 1. One more elevator was proposed for platform 3 which assumes importance as most trains of Howrah- Mumbai route passes through that platform.

Station director Balmuchu said much emphasis was laid on cleanliness and proper upkeep of the station. “We are also trying to implement environment-friendly initiatives,” he added.

The meeting stressed more food stalls on platforms 3, 4, and 5.

Improving the punctuality of trains passing through Tatanagar station was also discussed at the meeting.
