New Delhi, Nov.19: PV Sindhu, the two-time Olympic medalist, defeated Turkey’s Neslihan Yigit in straight games to advance to the women’s singles semifinals of the Indonesia Masters Super 750 badminton competition on Friday.
Sindhu, the reigning world champion, won a decisive 21-13 21-10 victory over unseeded Yigit in 35 minutes, extending her 4-0 head-to-head record over the Turkish shuttler. Last month, the 26-year-old from Hyderabad defeated Yigit in the Denmark Open.
Sindhu will meet the winner of the quarterfinal between top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and fifth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand. She has had relatively easy opponents thus far.
Later in the day, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy, both from India, would face off in the men’s singles quarterfinals.
