Ranchi, April 7: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das, has requested the Jharkhand government to instruct schools to revise the timing of the schools to save students from sunstroke and heatwaves.
Das who is the national vice president of the BJP wrote a letter to Jharkhand chief secretary Sukhdev Singh saying that Jharkhand has been facing a condition of heatwave adversely affecting children. Das said that classes should be held from 6 AM till 10 AM.
“Rest of the classes should be taken online so that education of children is not affected and children remain safe at home. I request you to accordingly issue an order,” Das said.
The concerns raised by Raghubar Das are corroborated by the weather forecast. The Ranchi Met Department has said that the Northern-Western part of Jharkhand will continue to face the condition of the heatwave. There is no indication of rain and a drop in the temperature. According to the weather forecast, Daltonganj recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8°C, followed by Deoghar (42°C), Godda (42°C), Jamshedpur (41°C), Chaibasa (40.6°C), Giridih (39.9°C), Bokaro (39.5°C) and Ranchi (38.4°C).
All schools of Jharkhand have resumed offline classes starting from 7 AM till 1 PM.
