New Delhi, April 3: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on his way to Surat to file an appeal in court against conviction in the ‘Modi surname’ case. Rahul Gandhi, who departed from Delhi, is scheduled to arrive in Surat around 2:00 PM.
Congressman Rahul Gandhi is to appeal his conviction in a criminal defamation case involving his statement about the “Modi surname” before a sessions court in Surat, Gujarat. Rahul Gandhi will be present before the sessions court to deliver his argument in opposition to the ruling of the metropolitan court that sentenced him to two years in prison.

When Gandhi arrives in Surat on Monday afternoon, senior Congress figures including Priyanka Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will also be there, according to party sources.
“Rahul Gandhi will reach the sessions court in Surat to file an appeal at around 3 pm,” his lawyer Kirit Panwala said.
