Ranchi, Aug.12: A senior technician of the engineering department of railway Jagannath Oraon (53) who went to respond to a natural call in a passenger train, Swarna Jayanti Express, parked on platform No.2 at Ranchi railway station died after he slipped on the railway track while boarding off the train.
The incident took place on Wednesday around 7.30 pm. The CCTV footage related to the incident became viral in the evening.
In-charge of the RPF post at Ranchi Railway station Suman Jha confirmed the incident saying the staff had to go to Prayag Raj by LTT Express.
“The timing of the LTT Express was 9.30 but Oraon accompanied by his wife reached the station around 7.30 pm for convenience. That time Swarna Jayanti Express was stationed on the platform. While waiting at the platform the man experienced a natural call and boarded on Swarn Jayanti to use its urinal. A few minutes after he boarded the train to use the urinal, the train started. While boarding off the running train, he slipped through the stairs of the train and went onto the railway track. Later, he was found dead on the track,” Jha said, quoting the wife of the deceased.
