Jamshedpur, Feb 17: Several places across Jharkhand are expected to experience light to moderate rain due to the impact of a western disturbance passing through northern parts of the country.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre this afternoon issued an alert of rain in the north-east, south-east and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand on Sunday, February 20.

Synoptic features suggest that a trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly was persisting along Long.78°E to the north of Lat.30°N.

“The trough caused by a western disturbance will impact Jharkhand’s weather for a day on Sunday. It will result in isolated rainfall. Weather conditions will again become clear from Monday,” said a duty officer at Ranchi Met Centre.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over Jharkhand during the past 34-hours.

The highest maximum temperature of 28.1°C was recorded at Bokaro on Thursday while the lowest minimum temperature of 8.7°C was recorded at Garhwa.

Met officials said there will not be many fluctuations in minimum temperature in the next 48 hours.

Statistics revealed that minimum temperature hovered between 10-14 degrees Celsius in most places across the state on Thursday.
