Koderma, April.7: Police claimed that a 69-year-old retired teacher Girjanandan Prasad whose body was found in a forest area on Feb 11 had committed suicide due to regular blackmailing, terming this a case of honey trap. Police presented the honey trap story after arresting an accused in this case identified as Mohammad Sohil from the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan.
Prasad left his home on Jan 31 this year making his elder son Anand Kishore lodge an FIR in the Koderma police station suspecting abduction. This case made local people to many political parties active, mounting pressure on the police to find Prasad immediately. But on Feb 11, the teacher’s body was found on a rock in the Dengra Pahad area, only one and a half kilometers away from his home.
Officer-in-charge Dwarika Ram said they started their probe keeping in mind various aspects including the blackmailing one as told to them by the teacher’s son Kishore. “During the investigation, we came to know that a gang from Rajasthan was blackmailing Prasad by using some objectionable video. This gang even managed to take Rs.20,000 from Prasad through nine online transactions. The ninth instalment of Rs.4000 was sent on Jan 31, the day when Prasad went missing,” he said.
The investigation confirmed the names of four involved persons in this case who are residents of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. A team led by ASI Iqbal Hussain rushed to Bharatpur and arrested Sohil recovering his mobile which was used to blackmail Prasad, added Ram. He said raids are on to arrest three others who are still at large.
