Honolulu, April 13: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in Hawaii for a brief visit to the headquarters of the US Indo-Pacific Command, a unified combatant command of America’s Armed Forces in charge of the crucial Indo-Pacific area.
Admiral John Aquilino, Commander, US INDOPACOM, met Rajnath Singh upon his arrival from Washington, DC.
“Reached Honolulu in Hawaii for a visit to the Headquarters of United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). I shall also be visiting the Headquarters of US Army Pacific and Pacific Air Forces, during my brief stay in Hawaii,” Rajnath Singh tweeted.

He will visit the USINDOPACOM headquarters, Pacific Fleet and the training facilities in Hawaii today, before returning to India. USINDOPACOM is the United States Armed Forces’ unified combatant command for the Indo-Pacific area.
In the face of China’s increasing military manoeuvring in the region, India, the United States, and a number of other world powers have discussed the importance of ensuring a free, open, and vibrant Indo-Pacific.
During his visit to Hawaii, Singh is anticipated to lay a wreath at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and visit the US Army Pacific and Pacific Air Forces Headquarters.
Notably, Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Washington on Sunday for the first India-US ‘2 2’ Ministerial Dialogue under the Biden administration, which was held on Monday.
