Ramgarh, March 23: Patratu police arrested Ashok Mahto, a resident of Rochap Dokatand, an active member of the Pandey gang on Wednesday. Patratu SDPO Dr. Virendra Chaudhary was informed about this by a press conference in the office on Wednesday after his arrest.
He told that Ashok Mahto, an active member of the Pandey gang, was standing near the Khaira Manjhi gate of Patratu for extortion recovery. On receiving secret information in this regard, a police team was immediately raided and this active member of the gang was nabbed near Khaira Manjhi gate. The SDPO said that at the time of his arrest, a 7.65 mm country-made pistol and four live cartridges, a mobile and Rs 25,000 were seized from him. After arrest, the house of the accused was searched. From where a katta and two live cartridges of 315 bore have also been recovered.
The SDPO said that a few months ago, this criminal had spread terror by firing in the siding of Hardev Construction Company, which was working on the railway line in Patratu.
Ashok Mahto has a criminal record in the past as well. Extortion from company people was his main occupation. The police team included SDPO Dr. Virendra Chaudhary, Circle Inspector Rohit Kumar, Patratu police station in-charge Gautam Kumar, Barkakana OP in-charge Shashi Prakash, Sonu Kumar Sahu, Bhurkunda in-charge Amit Kumar along with the armed forces.
