Ramgarh, March 10: Barkakana police in Ramgarh district collected the remains from the burning pyre of a woman for DNA testing.
Chinia Munda, a resident of Ichatu under the Rajrappa police station of the district, accused the in-laws of his daughter named Maneswari Devi of secretly burning the dead body after killing her.
The Barkakana police took action intending to corroborate this allegation and gather evidence. The deceased woman’s father has made a serious allegation and complained about the OP in which he has accused his son-in-law Umesh Munda and his mother Balkahi Devi of killing his daughter.
Chinia Munda said, “I was informed that my daughter died. After the information, I along with my family members reached my daughter’s in-laws’ house in Baridih, where I found her (Maneswari Devi) dead in a room.”
After this, Chinia Munda reached Barkakana OP. He told the police that his daughter had been killed. Her in-laws were in a hurry to perform the last rites at the Purnadih crematorium. This is being done to hide the evidence of the killing.
After his complaint, Barkakana OP in-charge Mantu Chaudhary, ASI Durjay Singh reached the crematorium with the team. Seeing the police team, the people performing the cremation ran away from there.
The police seized the woman’s remains from the burning pyre and brought them to the OP. Mantu Chaudhary said that the remains were sent for DNA profile examination. Patratu Inspector Lileshwar Mahto also reached out to investigate the matter.
