Ramgarh, Feb 6: Bazar Samiti’s Businessmen started a protest against the agricultural tax in Ramgarh on Monday.

Notably, on Wednesday, the business of all traders of food grains, fruits and vegetables of the Ramgarh market committee will be stalled. Shops will remain completely closed. An important decision will be taken in the state-level meeting to be held in Ranchi next Wednesday.

In the protest against the imposition of agricultural duty by the state government, the agitation of the food businessmen started in Ramgarh.  In the first phase of the movement, all the businessmen protested against the agriculture tax by wearing black badges.

Addressing the protest of businessmen, Amit Sahu, regional vice-president of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the agitation of businessmen against the agriculture tax has started and till the state government withdraws this agriculture tax, it will continue.

Amit Sahu said that on coming Wednesday, all the shops of food grains, fruits and vegetables of Ramgarh Bazar Samiti market will be completely closed and hundreds of businessmen will travel to Ranchi and participate in the state-level meeting organised to prepare the outline of further movement.

Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Agarwal, Regional President of Rice Mill Association, said that agriculture tax will not be allowed to be implemented at any cost.  On the one hand, where the general public is troubled by inflation, on the other hand, the state government is throwing the general public into the fire of inflation by implementing an agriculture tax, which is fueling inflation.

Agarwal said that due to the implementation of an agriculture tax in Jharkhand, their entire business will shift to Bengal and Bihar because there is no agriculture tax there already.

In the meeting, showing their solidarity, all the businessmen raised contradictory slogans against the state government.
