Ramgarh, Feb 5: The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge I Radha Krishna sentenced two convicts in a 2017 minor rape case in Ramgarh.
Accused Sanju Kumar Bedia was sentenced to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a minor in Bhadani Nagar area while the second accused, Raj Kumar Bedia was sentenced to a maximum of 12 years.
During the hearing on the point of punishment, the court has imposed six years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 on Sanju Kumar Bedia under section 363 of the IPC, life imprisonment under section 6 of POCSO Act and a fine of Rs. 60,000.
Similarly, the second accused Rajkumar Bedia has been sentenced to eight years of prison and fine of Rs. 20,000 under section 366A of the IPC, 12 years under section 6/17 POCSO Act and a fine of Rs 30,000.
The court has ordered the convicts to pay the fine amount to the victim.
The court had convicted both the accused on January 28, 2022. The incident dates back to 14th June 2017. The FIR in the matter was registered on 18th June 2017 in Bhadani Nagar OP.
It is to be known that the victim in the case had committed suicide four months after the incident in shock due to the atrocities committed
During the hearing of Special POCSO 8/2018, Bhadani Nagar OP Case No. 159/2017, Additional Public Prosecutor SK Shukla, IO Police Sub Inspector Dinesh Kumar Singh, and Dr. Uday Srivastava, on behalf of the prosecution, presented a total of ten cases. The court had recorded the testimony of the witnesses.
