Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi convicted, taken into custody

Hazaribag, Dec, 8: The court of additional district and sesions judge-4 Pawan Kumar on Thursday passed verdict in Inland power plant firing case convicting Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi and a local firebrand leader Rajeev Jaiswal.

The quantum of punishment will be awarded on December 12. Mamta taken into custody with her lawyer pleaded in court to allow her to keep her 3.5months old son also with her.

Notably on Aug 2016, a clash between villagers and police taken place on main gate of the power plant company in Gola in which four were killed. On complaint of than BDO Dinesh Prasad Suri, FIR lodged against Mamta and Jaiswal beside several others.

Aatma Ram Choudhary, a lawyer appearing in behalf of the complainant, confirmed the development. Total 47 witnesses examined today and finally MLA was convicted in various sections including 147, 148, 149, 307, 332, 326 and Arms act.

As court convicted MLA, she looked shocked. It seemed that she was not expecting such verdict.
