Ramgarh, Mar 7: A 73-year-old elderly man identified as Janaki Yadav
was crushed to death by a Hydra Crane near CCL Saunda Ekta Club on the Bhurkunda-Sayal main road in Ramgarh.
Following the accident, an enraged mob blocked the road and began targeting the police.
Meanwhile, the Bhurkunda police station’s PCR van arrived near the scene, causing the crowd to become enraged and attack the van. The van had to run around 600 metres in reverse gear due to the crowd’s anger.
During this time, the mob continued to throw stones at the van. When they got near enough to the van, they unlocked the gate and tried to drag the driver down but were unsuccessful.
At the same time, seeing the matter deteriorating, the local people controlled the furious mob by separating the policemen present at the spot from the crowd.
Janki Yadav, an elderly former CCL employee, was a resident of Ekta Club. He was on his way to clear the plantation and dump the garbage on the other side of the road in the morning when a Hydra Crane rammed him.
After the accident, the local people took possession of the Hydra crane driver, who was rescued and sent to the police station. About 4 hours after the accident, the police had a positive conversation with the victim’s family members. After this, the body was lifted from the road and sent for post-mortem.
The SDPO and BDO assured to get Rs. 1 lakh for hit and run incident, Rs. 50,000 under family benefit towards the block, Rs. 20,000 at panchayat level for the function besides getting speed breaker.
Only after this, the body could be picked up from the road and sent for post-mortem. During this, Saunda, Sayal-Urimari main road was completely jammed for about 4 hours.
