Ramgarh, Jan 5: The sanitary workers at Maa Chhinmastika Temple in Ramgarh went on a strike for unpaid wages since February 2022. During the protest, workers stopped the garbage collection, disposal of waste and sweeping of the streets. As a result, the devotees entering and leaving the temple face many problems.
Non-payment of wages to the cleaners had already created livelihood problems for them. About 30 cleaners are engaged in cleaning around the temple. Knowing this fact, the district administration is not taking any initiative in this direction.
During the protest, the workers said, “Due to the non-payment of wages by the Jharkhand Government, the tourism department has not been paid since last February. We are facing a lot of problems due to unpaid wages”.
“However, applications have been given to the Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner in the past regarding the matter,” they added.
Sanitation workers warned that protests would continue if wages were not paid on time. Shakuntala Devi, Sangeeta Devi, Pooja Devi, Sohamuni Devi, Sanjoti Devi and others joined the protest.
