Ramgarh: In a moment of immense pride for Jharkhand, Satyam Kumar, a native of Laheri Tola in Chitarpur block of Ramgarh district, has achieved a remarkable milestone on the global stage. He has been selected for the highly prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) PhD Fellowship, funded by the European Union.

With this international fellowship, Satyam will now pursue research in Sustainable Real Estate Finance at the University of Naples, Italy. He is one of only two Indians selected for this coveted opportunity out of thousands of applicants from across the world. Notably, he secured the fifth position globally during the rigorous multi-phase selection process.

Background And Academic Journey

Coming from a humble middle-class background, Satyam completed his early education at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Rajrappa. He went on to pursue engineering in Kolkata and later earned a master’s degree from Germany. Despite receiving lucrative job offers from several top global banks, Satyam has chosen to further his academic journey in research.

Pride For The Village

The village of Laheri Tola erupted in celebration as news of his success spread. Family members, relatives, and fellow villagers proudly rejoiced in his accomplishment. Satyam attributed his success to the unwavering support of his father Nagendra Prasad Swarnkar, mother Asha Devi, and uncles Kishori Prasad (a labour leader) and Mahendra Prasad.

Satyam’s achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a beacon of inspiration for many aspiring youth from Jharkhand who dream of making a mark on the global academic stage.
