Ranchi, Aug.26: After an offensive comment on Prophet Mohammed by suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh in Hyerabad, Ranchi was heavily guarded and a peace committee meeting was called out of concern for potential unrest.
Singh was taken into custody on Thursday after being charged by the police with regularly giving aggressive and offensive comments.
Sub Divisional officer Deepak Dubey presided over the meeting of the Central Peace Committee. The circle officer and the deputy superintendent of police were among the numerous police and administrative officials from the city who attended the conference.
In the Ranchi Sadar subdivision region, a thorough discussion was held about preserving social harmony and the impending festivals. The administrative and police personnel in attendance informed the audience that the district administration conducts particular monitoring of social media and that individuals who attempt to sabotage social harmony or post incendiary comments on social media will face legal repercussions.
In this regard, the Central Peace Committee members were also urged to assist the district government in spreading this message to the populace.
A police camp was established on the major route in Ranchi. To maintain control of the scene, the police led a flag march. Numerous police officers were stationed along the main road per the orders of the SSP and DC of Ranchi.
Other areas of the city’s capital received increased security as well. A police cantonment was built between Albert Ekka Chowk and Sujata Chowk. Particularly, more police officers were stationed close to the Ekra Masjid.
In order to avoid any unpleasant events, a flag march was conducted.
A large number of police and district administration officials, including DC Rahul Sinha and SSP Kishore Kaushal, took part in the flag march. The leaders pleaded with the populace to uphold a spirit of harmony and unity. Posting or sharing offensive videos came with a legal action warning.
