Dhanbad Nov 11: A team of Ranchi Anti- Terrorism Squad (ATS) searched the house of Abhijit Singh alias Shantu Singh in Khas Sizua area under Tetulmari police station, around 15 km away from the district headquarters.

Tetulmari police station officer-in-charge Sanjiv Singh said that Ranchi ATS team under a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) arrived in the afternoon of Wednesday and conducted the search in the house of Shantu Singh for more than five and half hours.

He said Shantu Singh has been in Latehar jail for the last eight months in connection of an incident that took place reportedly under Orimari OP of Barkagaon in Hazaribagh district.

“Ranchi ATS  officers neither informed us for what they were conducting a search of Shantu Singh’s house nor recovered anything during five and half hours’ search operation,” a police official said.

Ramjit Singh, father of jailed Shantu Singh said that after the search operation the ATS team captured a photo of his PAN card, bank account number, Aadhar card in mobile but did not inform the reason behind searching his house, cars and others while his son is in jail.

Lalita Devi, mother of Shantu Singh alleged that police harassed them while the entire family members were engaged in first Arghya of Chhath festival. “ I told them that whom they were searching is already in jail for last eight months. Despite that they disturbed us and did not allow us to move out from the room,” said Lalta Devi.

The DSP, who was leading the ATS refused to disclose his name and said that the investigating team has found some information related with Orimari ( Hazaribagh) incident and the raid has been conducted in that connection.

The ATS team reached Shantu Singh’s house for a raid along with the officer-in-charge of two police stations (Katras and Tetulmari) and personnel in a large number.
