Ranchi, Oct 1: The Foundation Day of National Coal Development Corporation (NCDC), a Government-owned oldest coal mining PSU, was celebrated for the first time with enthusiasm and zeal at Central Coalfields Limited, Headquarters in Ranchi today.
NCDC is the mother company from which Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries including Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) emanated. NCDC was established by the Government of India on October 1, 1956, and it comprised of the Coal mines owned by railways too.
The event was attended by employees who were part of erstwhile NCDC and other luminaries of Coal India Ltd.
The stalwarts of the Coal Industry recounted their journey and shared various anecdotes during the program. They also briefed the audience about the history of NCDC and the gradual evaluation to Coal India Limited. Ex-Chairman Dr MP Narayanan delivered the KSR Chari memorial lecture. KSR was the renowned mining engineer of NCDC and he was elevated to Coal Secretary, Government of India.
The dignitaries expressed their gratitude to CMD, CCL PM Prasad for organising the First NCDC Foundation Day and glorifying the legacy of NCDC.
Chairman of Coal India Limited Pramod Agrawal joined the celebration virtually. He congratulated CCL on organising the event. Furthermore, he stated that Coal India is committed to fulfilling the country’s energy aspirations carrying forward the legacy of NCDC.
In his inaugural address CMD, CCL welcomed all the dignitaries and said that it is a matter of pride for the company that eminent stalwarts from Coal industry have gathered at CCL. He further stated that the foundation and ethos provided by NCDC is a significant reason for making Coal India Limited the leading coal mining company in the world.
