Ranchi, Oct 1: As the weather in the city continues to be gloomy, the Dussehra committees in Ranchi have decided to make waterproof Ravana effigies for Dussehra this year.

Talking to lagatar24.com, Arun Chawla, the head of one of the Dussehra committees ‘Punjabi Hindu Biradri’ said that they are well prepared for the rain this time and have come up with waterproof Ravana effigy.

“As we all are aware that the weather in Ranchi has been unpredictable this monsoon and as per the weather reports there are prediction of rainfall on Oct 5, the day of Ravana dahan. Therefore we have come up with waterproof Ravana effigy this year so that the fireworks can still take place even if there is a medium drizzle,” Chawla said.

As per the weather report by IMD, light to moderate rain is expected throughout the week in Ranchi along with lightning.

Chawla said that all the preparations regarding Dussehra has been completed and the effigy is also ready. He added that only the shifting of the effigy to Morabadi ground needs to be done.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will also be taking part in the Dussehra programme on Wednesday.
