Ranchi: CCL signs MoU with WAPCOS for development of Eco parks

Ranchi, July 21: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a Jharkhand-based subsidiary of Coal India Ltd signed an MoU with WAPCOS Limited for the development of eco-parks in command areas of the company at CCL Darbhanga House, Ranchi on Thursday.

Nine Eco parks covering an altogether area of 126.47 Hectares in the command area of CCL have also been taken up. These Eco Parks will be developed in three districts of Jharkhand.

CMD CCL, PM Prasad, Director Technical (P&P) SK Gomasta, Director Technical Operation RB Prasad along with other officers of CCL were present to grace the occasion. Representatives of WAPCOS Limited were also present during the programme.

CCL is committed to environmental preservation and biodiversity conservation. Various activities have been undertaken by the company in this regard.  In addition to various plantation works and Environment Protection measures taken up by CCL.

The period of engagement of WAPCOS Limited is 6 years (1 year for the development of Eco park and subsequent five years for maintenance) which contains the last one year as a self-sustainable period. The total cost for the development of 9 Eco-Parks including PMC Charges will be about Rs 63 Crores.

The Development of Eco-Park will envisage a sustainable ecosystem by adopting suitable measures like honey bee farming, fish farming, food processing plant etc. with a goal for revenue generation to meet the maintenance expenditure.

WAPCOS Limited will also facilitate educating and propagating the agricultural technical know-how among the local farmers for their benefit.
