Ranchi, April 15: Christians around the city attended the Good Friday for the first time in two years. The Loyola Ground in Purulia Road saw a massive gathering of around 10,000 to 15,000 people who attended the auspicious mass.
Ravi Khalkho, one of the volunteers, said that post lockdown this is the first time that Easter mass will be held offline.
“We have allotted more than 50 volunteers for today to look upon the people. We also have volunteers on the road to look after the parking of vehicles. Police officials are also helping us in conducting the mass peacefully,” he said.
The mass was conducted by Archbishop Felix Toppo and the Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Cathedral along with other brothers and priests.
Good Friday is observed as the day of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. Christians observe the day by fasting and attending church services or re-enactments of Jesus Christ’s last hours.
It is followed by Easter Sunday that commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death. It is believed that after his death and burial, he rose from the grave on a Sunday
