Ranchi, March 14: Police in the Jharkhand capital appointed 10 sub-inspectors associated with different police stations as nodal officers to make the city crime-free.
S.P.(city) Saurabh informed this saying the nodal officers will keep a tab on the activities of notorious criminals going to jail or returning from jail to ensure that police could reach them without any delay in the case of any requirement.
“We want to be self-dependent as far as having a complete profile of the notorious criminal is concerned unlike our old practice of depending on others unofficial sources. It will help us to plan how to deal with who and against whom we can plan to ask the administration to exercise power under CCA Act,” Kumar said.
The S.P.(city) said initially the sub-inspectors will not be given any additional assignment and deputed on law and order duty. “After reviewing their performance for three months further steps will be taken,” he said.
An insider said the nodal officers will work under the supervision of an inspector posted at the police line, Alok Singh, and focus on the criminals involved in crime like extortion and kidnapping besides keeping illegal firearms.
These nodal officers have been asked not to leave headquarters without prior permission. “They are asked to collect all necessary information about notorious criminals including their contacts, hideouts, vehicles they use, mobile phone they use, person from whom they take financial assistance, their family members and friends supporting them besides others, their movement,” the insider said
