Ranchi, June 30: Court of additional judicial commissioner Vishal Srivastava today sentenced the three convicted for life for killing two brothers at a news channel office in Ashok Nagar under Argora police station.
The three include Lokesh Choudhary and his associates Dharmendra Tiwari and Sunil Singh. They were produced before the court through video conferencing. They had been convicted on June 26. A fine of Rs 25000 was also imposed on each of them,
The case arose after Hemant Agarwal and Mahendra Agarwal were shot dead at Choudhary’s office. Their bodies with bullet wounds were recovered on March 7, 2019 noon from the chamber of Choudhary, the then franchise head of a television news channel at posh Ashok Nagar.
Hemant, who was 38 at the time of murder, and Mahendra, who was 40 at the time of murder, ran a courier service, Pawan Air Cargo, had gone to the news channel office in a scooter a day before their bodies were recovered to give Choudhary a reminder about the loan.
According to police, Choudhary under a plan returned the cash to Agrawal brothers but his intention was wrong. Choudhary, under a plan, asked his bodyguards and driver to impersonate an IB officer to take back the same amount from Agrawal brothers. As their bodyguards and driver did the same, both the brothers resisted. This resulted in firing and killing.
An FIR was registered in this connection at the Argora police station. The prosecution produced as many as 19 witnesses in the case. There was no defence witness.
