Ranchi, April 13: Court of additional judicial commissioner Shahjad Mohammed pronounced life imprisonment to five youths besides imposing a fine of Rs 40,000 on each of them for committing gang rape with a lady insurance agent after calling her to purchase an insurance policy.
The convicts include Dablu Soni alias Rahul alias Ramesh Kumar, Santosh, Dharmendra, Kamaljeet Singh and Rikky Gupta. They all are already lodged at Birsa Munda Central Jail and now after the judgement continues to remain there.
The case arose in February 2020 after an FIR was registered at the Khelgaon police station in this connection.
The crime was committed in a planned way. Rahul, who was known to the lady agent residing in a rented room, called her saying his friend Santosh wanted to purchase an insurance policy. As the lady reached a building in Khatanga near Khelgaon, Rahul took her inside where the other four were waiting. As she entered they snatched her mobile phone and then committed rape in turn threatening her of dire consequences in case of any objection.
As the matter reached the police, all the five accused were arrested within a week.
