Ranchi: CTRTI-SIDHCOFED sign MoU for development of Tasar farmers

Ranchi, Oct 17: Central Tasar Research and Training Institute (CTRTI) Ranchi and Sidho-Kanho Agriculture and Forest State Federation (SIDHCOFED) have joined hands for the betterment of Tasar farmers in Jharkhand.

In this regard, SDHOCOFED and CTRTI officials signed an MoU to foster collaboration and provide training to farmers at CTRTI Ranchi.

On the occasion, Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF)- cum- chief executive officer of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA); Jay Prakash Sharma, (IFS) Secretary of  SIDHOCFED Ranchi,  CTRTI ‘s Susmita Das, Dr J P Pandey and Dr K Jena were present.

The programme was organized by Dr Jitendra Singh and Dr B Jagadjyoti (both scientists). On the occasion, a five-day need-based training programme for 20 tasar farmers also began.

An official said that the main focus of the MoU is on a collaborative approach to the promotion of tasar culture in Jharkhand. The nominated farmers had the opportunity to visit various aspects of CTRTI Ranchi, including the farm, fields, museum and laboratories. This visit provided insights into the practical aspects of tasar farming and production.

“This approach was extensively discussed to finalize the vision plan for the federation,” said Sanjeev Kumar. He emphasized the core theme and objectives of the MoU, highlighting the significant potential for forest produce management and business development to enhance the livelihoods of farmers.

During the programme officers of SIDHCOFED and CTRTI Ranchi also held detailed discussions and planning sessions which revolved around the modus operandi of the MoU for enhancing tasar production and productivity in Jharkhand.

Dr N.B. Chowdary, Director of CTRTI Ranchi, assured all possible technical support to ensure the successful implementation of the MoU.
