Ranchi, April 30: Students and teachers of DAV Public School, Hehal on Saturday enjoyed a performance by artists and performers from Spic Macay.

Revered Tantri artist Pandit Salil Bhatt, also considered the father of Satvik Veena, performed on his Veena while Kaushik Kanwar performed on tabla. The performance mesmerized both students and teachers alike.

Pandit Bhatt further explained the nuances of the vocals of the Veena.

He said, “We have the richest civilization in the world of music, we want music to be taught as a compulsory subject to children from nursery classes. This will increase the artistry in a child and they will be able to study without stress and anger. Also, the child will get to know about the country’s musical history, musical instruments, etc from early childhood.”

Pandit Bhatt, while talking about his life, said that he started learning music at the age of ten. His father, Grammy Award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt had been his mentor.

The Principal cum Assistant Regional Officer of the school, M K Sinha welcomed and thanked Pandit Bhatt and Kanwar on the occasion for their beautiful performance.
