Ramgarh, April 30: Hazaribagh’s famous footballer and Coach Narsingh Tirkey passed away on Saturday. His last rites were performed at the cremation ground at Jabra.
Narsingh Tirkey breathed his last at the age of 90 at his residence in Korra, Hazaribagh. He had been unwell for the past several months.
Narsingh’s entire life was devoted to football. He was a famous footballer from Hazaribagh and was serving uninterruptedly as a coach at St. Columba College.
Even after retirement, he was working as a coach in the college for many years due to his love for sports and immense passion for the players.
Apart from sports, Narsingh Tirkey also actively participated in social activities. He was rich in a tactful and friendly personality and devoted his whole life to bringing awareness to sports among the youth. His simplicity and decency are inspiring for other people in society.
Tirkey remained free from controversies throughout his life and was always associated with exercise, sports and the field. He left behind his entire family including four sons and a daughter.
When the football fans of Hazaribagh came to know about Tirkey’s demise, they were deeply saddened. Many people expressed sorrow over the sudden demise of Narsingh Tirkey. He was known as the ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ of football in Hazaribagh.
