Ranchi, Feb 10: The Food Safety officer of Ranchi has geared up to impart Food Safety Training and Certification to all the food vendors in the district to ensure that all licensed food businesses must have at least one trained and certified Food Safety Supervisor.
District Food Safety officer Subir Ranjan said that all the food businesses will be made aware for a certain period of time about the food handling and its safety so as to ensure wholesome food for human consumption.
“After creating awareness among the food vendors proper checking will be done to ensure that safe food is delivered to the consumers in the district. Along with creating awareness among the food shops, we are also collecting food samples,” Ranjan said.
“Following the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 action will be taken against food adulteration. It is generally found that it is done before festive seasons so we will be more active before Holi so that quality food is delivered across the district,” Ranjan added.
Appealing to people of the district who are wandering to get the food license he said, “In order to get the food license one can come to the office which is located on the second floor in the B-block of the Collectorate building.”
On asking about where a consumer can complain about the adulteration in the food he said that one can visit the office for any complaints or can lodge a complaint by dialling a toll-free number which is available on the FSSAI website.
