Daltonganj, Feb 3: Ranchi BJP MP Sanjay Seth has urged the Railway ministry to set up its zonal office in Jharkhand.

The MP made this exhortation in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday under the provision of rule 377.

Speaking to lagatar.24.com, Seth said he did raise this issue as Jharkhand deserves to have a zonal office of the railway here.

He said it would improve things if the railway ministry sets up its zonal office in the name of South Eastern railway which has been operational here since 1956.

There are around 255 small and big railway stations in Jharkhand which are good revenue giving railway stations.

On an average, Jharkhand gives Rs. 25,000 crore of revenue annually to the union government which is larger revenue by all means.

Seth said states like Orissa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, UP and Andhra Pradesh all have their railway zonal office in their respective states but Jharkhand stands denied of it since the days of its carving out from Bihar.

The BJP MP further said Telangana is a state which got railway south coast zonal headquarter on its creation.

Seth argued if the railway ministry sets up its zonal office in Jharkhand it will help the railways in its own logistic development besides it will augment the amenities for the passengers as well.

“India is celebrating its 75th Azadi k Amrit Mahotsav and nothing can be better and beneficial to Jharkhand than the railway ministry agreeing to set up its zonal office here,” reminded the BJP MP.

Seth’s batting for the railway zonal office has been lauded by one and all here cutting across the party lines.

Sources said he is the MP who got the Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani express train to pass through Lohardaga railway station. Now, people are demanding a 2 minute stoppage of this train at Lohardaga railway station.
