Dhanbad, July 29: The Ranchi NDRF team brought out the decomposed body of coal rag picker Parmeshwar from the Jharia mines fire hole in Ghanuadih Gandhi Chabutra area after 23 hours on Saturday.
The 15-member NDRF team under Inspector Rahul Kumar Singh began the rescue operation at 10 am and at around 12 noon they brought out the burnt body.
Parmeshwar Chouhan (40) slipped in a fire hole of Jharia mines fire area at 3 pm on Friday. The NDRF team was called for rescue after a team of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) expressed inability to bring out the body owing to high temperature and poisonous gas billowing out from the hole.
Rahul Kumar Singh told media persons that the mines hole was full of poisonous gas and temperature showed above 160 Degree Celsius.
“ The fire hole was very deep. However, with the help of a rope and iron angle rod we became able to bring out the body trapped in the hole,” said the NDRF Inspector.
Jharia circle officer (CO) Pramesh Kushwaha, who was supervising the rescue operation, said that the entire area has been declared a fire and subsidence zone. The victim family had already been allotted a quarter at a safe place. However, the government compensation would be given as per rules, he added.
